Editorial Standards

These are the rules we follow when publishing on Ventura Remodel Guide. We update this page whenever the rules change.

Sourcing

Every guide cites primary sources at the bottom. Permit fees come from each city's published fee schedule (verified by phone quarterly). Cost data comes from anonymized real bids closed in the last 18 months. State law citations link to the actual statute.

We do not republish or summarize content from other contractor websites or AI-generated sources. If we cannot source a number, we don't publish it.

Dating and updates

Every guide is stamped with its last-updated date at the top. We review and refresh each guide on at least a quarterly cadence — sooner when laws or fees change. The latest update date is shown next to every guide title in our index.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email info@safewaycontractor.com. We verify within 2 business days. If the correction is material (changes a recommendation, a number, or a legal claim), we add a corrections note at the bottom of the affected guide and bump the dateModified.

Conflicts of interest

Ventura Remodel Guide is operated by Safeway Construction (CSLB #1066117). The parent company is featured on our Find a Contractor page with full disclosure. We do not accept money, gifts, or favors from material suppliers, cabinet brands, fixture manufacturers, real estate brokerages, or competing contractors. If a business relationship influences our coverage, we disclose it in the relevant article.

No AI-generated content

We use AI tools to help research, draft, and proofread, but every guide is reviewed and edited by a human with domain expertise (and 20+ years of Ventura County remodeling experience). We do not publish unedited AI output.

Reader privacy

We do not require email signup, paywall content, or behaviorally retarget readers. Standard analytics (page views, source) is collected for editorial planning. We do not sell any reader data.
